Dating back to 1540, Down Hall is situated in 100 acres of parkland, woodland and landscaped gardens. Just 14.5 km (9 miles) from Stansted Airport and within 35 minutes of London and Cambridge.
Approach the hotel and estate along a sweeping tree lined drive before reaching the magnificent entrance to the hotel. Enjoy any one of the 99 comfortable rooms, carefully designed to complement the surroundings. Whether visiting for business or simply wanting to get away from the rigours of daily life, there are plenty of ways here to help you relax. The sumptuous surroundings of the main lounge with its fine furnishings, antiques, brilliant chandeliers and exquisite tapestries offer a warm and charming ambience to relax in. After checking in, why not take a tour around the hotel and grounds, perhaps ordering traditional afternoon tea in the lounge or take a picnic out in the grounds. Down Hall also offers a choice of 2 restaurants, the Grill Room or Ibbetsons 2-rossette awarded fine dining (reservations recommended prior to arrival).
Down Hall Country House hosts a series of special events throughout the year including: exclusive picnics, afternoon tea, Valentine's dinner, Mother's Day lunch, wedding fairs, Christmas party nights, 2-day Christmas packages, Christmas Day lunch and New Year celebrations.

By road from the north Exit Junction 8, m11. Take a1250 towards Bishops Stortford town center. Turn left at traffic lights to Hatfield Heath (a1060). Down Hall is approximately 6 miles on a1060 Chelmsford road. At Hatfield Heath keep left, turn right into lane opposite Hunters Meet Restaurant and left at the end following sign post. By road from the south exitJunction 7, M11 (London to Cambridge). Take A414 towards Harlow. At fourth roundabout,follow B183 towards Hatfield Heath. After approximately 5 miles road bears right - signposted Down Hall Conference Centre. BY RAIL From Londons Liverpool Street Station take the Cambridge or Bishops Stortford train to Bishops Stortford (approximately 45 minute journey, two trains every hour). Taxi to Down Hall (10 minutes). Underground connections at Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale Stations.
